Author speaking and signing sessions

The When Karma Comes Calling collection is the greatest experiment of my life. From writing to publishing and building an author platform, I've needed to learn it all inside out. I love writing and publishing. And I love speaking about writing and publishing just as much. So, I’m bringing my experiences right to you through author talks, Q&As, and signing sessions.

Maybe I could be perfect for your next book club meeting?

What you can expect

I have needed to learn how to be an independent author from scratch. It's not just the writing, it's everything that comes with it. Independent authors manage the whole publishing journey from start to finish - from the first word being typed to that finished book getting into readers' hands. I can talk about every aspect of becoming an independent author, including:

Author talks, Q&As, and bookshop events

Perfect for book clubs, writing groups, and community bookshops

  • Coming up with your next novel idea

  • Building a writing routine that actually sticks

  • Beating writers' block and staying motivated

  • The book writing and editing process

  • Finding and working with trusted third-party partners (editors, proofers, designers)

  • Managing the cover design process

  • Writing agent query letters (and deciding if the traditional route is right for you)

Behind the scenes: the business of being an indie author

Ideal for book festivals, industry events, and panel discussions

  • How to self-publish your book via Amazon

  • The realities of launching a book as an indie author

  • Creating an author website that stands out

  • Building email newsletters and reader communities

  • Running ads that actually work and sell books

  • Balancing creativity with a full-time job

  • Lessons I learned the hard way (so you don’t have to)

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Q: What types of events do you speak at?
I’m available for bookshop events, book club meetings, library talks, panel discussions, writing groups, festivals, and school/university sessions — both in-person and online.

Q: Do you charge a fee for speaking or signing events?
It depends on the event type, location, and duration. For community groups and book clubs, I often attend for free or for travel costs. For festivals, panels, or industry events, I can provide a speaking fee upon request. Just get in touch and we’ll work it out.

Q: Do you travel for events?
Yes, I’m based in the East Midlands, but I’m happy to travel within the UK for the right event. I’m also available for virtual events over Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet.

Q: Can I buy books for my event in bulk or at a discount?
Yes, discounted bulk orders can be arranged for bookshops, schools, libraries and event organisers. Just let me know how many copies you'd like and I’ll handle the rest.

Q: How long are your sessions?
I can tailor the format depending on what you need. Typically, speaking sessions run for 45–60 minutes, including a Q&A. Shorter drop-in signings or longer workshops are also possible.

Q: Will you sign books at events?
Absolutely. I’m always happy to sign copies and chat with readers after a session.

Q: What do you need from the organiser?
A chair (the sitting kind or the hosting kind — ideally both!), a small table for books. I’ll bring everything else I need.

Q: I’m not a formal event organiser — can I still invite you?
Of course. Whether you run a book club in your living room or an indie bookshop, I’d love to hear from you.

Q: How do I enquire or make a booking?
